Hello, My Name is Paul Smith at The Lighthouse

Hello, My Name is Paul Smith at The Lighthouse, Glasgow

In my day job I am lucky enough to work for The Lighthouse in the centre of Glasgow. If you don’t already know about The Lighthouse, it is Scotland’s Centre for Design and Architecture. Essentially it’s a tourist attraction, exhibition and events space all wrapped up in a beautiful Charles Rennie Mackintosh building just off Buchanan Street.

This month we were lucky enough to open a super exciting new exhibition, “Hello, My Name is Paul Smith”. The exhibition is centred on the work of the British fashion designer Paul Smith. Obviously, having been working on this exhibition I am totally biased, but it really is fantastic. The exhibition has been beautifully curated by the Design Museum, London along with the team at Paul Smith and it’s incredible to have it here, in Glasgow.

Paesano, Glasgow

Paesano

Paesano opened in Glasgow just a few months ago, after being recommended to go by several friends I stopped for a visit at lunch time last week.

The location is good, tucked in the blocks between Buchanan Street and Merchant City it’s convenient for shoppers and office workers, as well as those who are heading out specifically for dinner and drinks.

Primark Mini Haul – Spring Accessories

Primark Spring Haul

I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with Primark. It’s not somewhere I find myself shopping a lot – the queues are annoying, I don’t think the clothes fit well and generally the fitting rooms are a disaster so trying anything on is a no-no. However there are things that I do like about it, for cheap basics like face clothes, hair bobbles and pyjamas you really can’t beat it.

I visited the other day and managed to catch a quiet time (score!), I took the opportunity to stock up on a few bits and pieces from their accessory collections – as well as some face cloths which I haven’t pictured – they really are just white face cloths! The spring travel items have just arrived and as someone who loves anything related to storage and organisation, they look great. I picked up a large nautical style make up or toiletry bag for just £3.00, a cute new cat-eared phone case for just £1.00 and an iPhone cable for just £2.50 – I don’t know how good this will be, but I wanted one to keep in the car and this is waaaayyy cheaper than official Apple ones and seems sturdier than some I have seen. I also chose some cute bracelets and essential hair bobbles. All in all not a bad little haul for just over £10!

Have you been to Primark lately?

Don’t Call it a Resolution

2015 has arrived and with it a lot of changes for me, work wise especially. I’ve found a new marketing job which I am super excited about and it’s part time, meaning I’ll be able to pick up some freelance work and also dedicate more time to the things I enjoy, which includes everything blog related! As well as blogging more I’m also committed to finishing the renovation on the flat, getting fitter, being organised and reading more… not resolutions as such, just things I’d like to do more of!

I’ve decided to ease myself into my first post back with a little blog about my furriest family member Hugo. In the last post he looks so tiny, he’s grown so much in the last few months. In fact he got big enough to knock over the Christmas Tree… twice.

Since getting him I’ve become a total cat lady. Appropriately there is a cat video festival in Glasgow this February, which I’ll definitely be attending. If you’re also cat obsessed you can get tickets here – and they’re free!

The Beginning.

Hello & welcome to my blog! I thought I would do a little post with a bit about me. My name is Jennifer or more commonly Jen. I work in Marketing, before that I worked in PR for a little while and before that I studied Fashion Marketing and worked in a handbag shop (and I’m still mourning the discount).

It’s a really exciting time for me just now as me and my boyfriend David have just moved into our first flat. Back in August we bought a big old tenement flat in Glasgow, it needed a lot of upgrading before we were able to move in. David’s dad is in the building trade so we were able to do a lot of the work ourselves.

The original intention for the blog was as a way of documenting our renovation. However the actual renovating part took up quite a lot of time and the blog fell by the wayside along with any kind of social life

The general aim for content is lifestyle; a little fashion, a little beauty and a nice bit of interiors chat too. I imagine over time a general direction will form, but we’re all a little shaky in the beginning, right?
