Primark Mini Haul – Spring Accessories

Primark Spring Haul

I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with Primark. It’s not somewhere I find myself shopping a lot – the queues are annoying, I don’t think the clothes fit well and generally the fitting rooms are a disaster so trying anything on is a no-no. However there are things that I do like about it, for cheap basics like face clothes, hair bobbles and pyjamas you really can’t beat it.

I visited the other day and managed to catch a quiet time (score!), I took the opportunity to stock up on a few bits and pieces from their accessory collections – as well as some face cloths which I haven’t pictured – they really are just white face cloths! The spring travel items have just arrived and as someone who loves anything related to storage and organisation, they look great. I picked up a large nautical style make up or toiletry bag for just £3.00, a cute new cat-eared phone case for just £1.00 and an iPhone cable for just £2.50 – I don’t know how good this will be, but I wanted one to keep in the car and this is waaaayyy cheaper than official Apple ones and seems sturdier than some I have seen. I also chose some cute bracelets and essential hair bobbles. All in all not a bad little haul for just over £10!

Have you been to Primark lately?

A Little January Reading

I mentioned a few posts back that one of my non resolutions was to read more this year. Here we are almost at the end of January and I have no idea what happened to the month. Seriously, anyone else think they slept through it? Anyway whilst I’ve been quite productive in other ways I haven’t yet finished a book.

My current reading list.

My current reading list.

I did however notice that The Bloggers Hub are starting a book club, and the first book is one I got for Christmas, #Girlboss by Sophia Amoruso, the founder and CEO of Nasty Gal. I’ll be starting it tonight and hopefully have a little review up next week. Once I’m done the next book on my list is another Christmas present, Pretty Honest by Sali Hughes. Packed full of beauty know how and tips, I’ve already sneaked a peek at various chapters and it looks great.

Bleach London Bruised Violet Review

Whenever I get my hair done I get a little bit of a colour through it. Normally a little pink or lilac. However this normally fades before I need my highlights re-done. I decided to liven up the blonde with one of the Bleach London temporary hair dyes I had read so much about.

Review: Macadamia Oil Extract Hair Treatment

Macadamia

I picked up this Macadamia hair mask while in Poundland, though I’ve also seen items from the range in Savers and other budget stores. For a budget product the packaging is really quite appealing, a nice black tub with printed outer. As I have bleached hair I’m always looking for treatments to add moisture and improve the condition, and at just £1 I thought I’d give this a try.

The mask is a translucent white, relatively thick formula with no real scent. I slathered this on my hair whilst in the bath and left on for around 20 minutes. After rinsing my hair did feel smooth and blow dried nicely, but I wasn’t overwhelmed. I have since used this product in the shower and again it smoothed my hair and left it in good condition.

I guess at the price I really can’t complain. It is by no means an awful treatment and didn’t have any adverse effects on my hair but it probably isn’t something I’d buy again. It didn’t feel very special or greatly improve the condition of my hair and I actually like a little fragrance in my hair products which is something this was lacking.

Have you tried this mask or anything from the Macadamia collection? What is your favourite hair mask?

Beauty Haul: Nuxe at M&S.

A while back I picked up some bits and bobs from the M&S beauty department. I’m really loving M&S beauty at the minute as my local store has a large department. Staff are normally super helpful (and not pushy!) and they do regular offers and free gifts which is definitely a bonus.

Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm

Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm

My first stop was Nuxe. I decided to try the Reve de Miel Lip Balm after reading great reviews from other bloggers. As I expected the Lip Balm is great, it’s hydrating, protective, a nice consistency and lasts a long time before you need to re-apply. Yeah, it’s a little pricey for lip balm but the longevity of wear and small amount needed means that one wee tub should last ages. The only downsides I can think of would be that the jar may be breakable and you do need to apply with your fingers – not the most hygienic but not really something that has bothered me.

The Reve de Miel Hand and Nail Cream was super impressive. I have constantly dry hands and I’m always on the lookout for something that can remedy them. This does the job perfectly and the smell is just fantastic. The cream was lightweight, but very nourishing. It left my hands soft but with no dreaded greasy residue. I loved the signature scent so much I can definitely see myself picking up the body lotion and maybe shower gel to try in the near future. This is definitely on the repurchase list. Any downsides? The tube looks a bit bashed/tired from a couple of weeks in my handbag… but that probably says more about my handbag than the product!

As an added plus there was a free gift of a full size (200ml) Nuxe Rose Petal Toner. Whilst I do enjoy a toner I normally opt for an exfoliating version not a hydrating one such as this, but it really is lovely. The formula is gentle and doesn’t sting – even if you do get it too close to your eyes! For anyone worrying about a strong rose scent …. Don’t, there is just the slightest hint of powdery rose and it is really quite pleasant.
