When we were doing up our kitchen we really wanted to make it warm, cosy and functional. I wasn’t particularly demanding but there was one thing I had my heart set on… a Smeg fridge. Now I’m sure these fridges need no introduction they’re pretty iconic after all.
I spent ages lusting after one and eventually managed to get a really good deal on a second hand one. In the end up we got a giant Smeg cooker as well and these are two of my favourite items in the kitchen.
One thing we don’t have yet is a toaster (it’s not as inconvenient as you might imagine!) and I’m glad we waited. Why? Well it seems that Smeg are bringing our their very own range of small kitchen appliances including a super cute toaster that will match our fridge perfectly. I’m not too matchy-matchy with kitchen items but I think this will look great, and Smeg appliances are really great quality too so I expect it to last a long time. No word on prices as yet though…. *shudder*
More details on the appliances on the smeg site here.
A while back I picked up some bits and bobs from the M&S beauty department. I’m really loving M&S beauty at the minute as my local store has a large department. Staff are normally super helpful (and not pushy!) and they do regular offers and free gifts which is definitely a bonus.
Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm
My first stop was Nuxe. I decided to try the Reve de Miel Lip Balm after reading great reviews from other bloggers. As I expected the Lip Balm is great, it’s hydrating, protective, a nice consistency and lasts a long time before you need to re-apply. Yeah, it’s a little pricey for lip balm but the longevity of wear and small amount needed means that one wee tub should last ages. The only downsides I can think of would be that the jar may be breakable and you do need to apply with your fingers – not the most hygienic but not really something that has bothered me.
The Reve de Miel Hand and Nail Cream was super impressive. I have constantly dry hands and I’m always on the lookout for something that can remedy them. This does the job perfectly and the smell is just fantastic. The cream was lightweight, but very nourishing. It left my hands soft but with no dreaded greasy residue. I loved the signature scent so much I can definitely see myself picking up the body lotion and maybe shower gel to try in the near future. This is definitely on the repurchase list. Any downsides? The tube looks a bit bashed/tired from a couple of weeks in my handbag… but that probably says more about my handbag than the product!
Nuxe Reve de Miel Hand and Nail
As an added plus there was a free gift of a full size (200ml) Nuxe Rose Petal Toner. Whilst I do enjoy a toner I normally opt for an exfoliating version not a hydrating one such as this, but it really is lovely. The formula is gentle and doesn’t sting – even if you do get it too close to your eyes! For anyone worrying about a strong rose scent …. Don’t, there is just the slightest hint of powdery rose and it is really quite pleasant.

Now you don’t need to tell me how late I am getting on the bandwagon with this whole Micellar Water thing. I really hadn’t tried one until last week when I picked up the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water in Boots as it was on offer.
Overall I thought this was a nice product. It took my makeup off quickly, even stubborn mascara and lipstick with no rubbing/pulling of the skin. I used this as a pre-cleanse and it really did speed up the process and helped me avoid the dreaded panda-eyes.
It’s not something I use every day as I feel that if you are doing a thorough cleanse or double cleanse, it’s probably not that necessary. I’ll probably save this for use after nights out or when I have been wearing heavier make up.
In terms of value for money it would seem that you can’t go far wrong with the Garnier Micellar Water. This giant (400ml) bottle normally retails for under a fiver – but even better it’s currently on offer in Boots for just £2.99. Bargain!
Hello & welcome to my blog! I thought I would do a little post with a bit about me. My name is Jennifer or more commonly Jen. I work in Marketing, before that I worked in PR for a little while and before that I studied Fashion Marketing and worked in a handbag shop (and I’m still mourning the discount).
It’s a really exciting time for me just now as me and my boyfriend David have just moved into our first flat. Back in August we bought a big old tenement flat in Glasgow, it needed a lot of upgrading before we were able to move in. David’s dad is in the building trade so we were able to do a lot of the work ourselves.
The original intention for the blog was as a way of documenting our renovation. However the actual renovating part took up quite a lot of time and the blog fell by the wayside along with any kind of social life
The general aim for content is lifestyle; a little fashion, a little beauty and a nice bit of interiors chat too. I imagine over time a general direction will form, but we’re all a little shaky in the beginning, right?
